AUXILIUM HOME- KATPADI
India witnessed nature’s fury multiple times this year, the most frightening being the Chennai, Caddalore and Kanchipuram floods in Tamil Nadu. These floods of 2015 did melt many a hearts and so did ours as well. The motivating initiatives from the parts of Rev.Sr.Michael the Headmistress of Auxilium Hr.Sec.School, Rev.Sr.Glorina and Sr.Justina from St.Mary’s Hr.Sec.School found many an extended hands to raise funds from our students, staff, Past Pupils, Benefactors known to generously contributed towards the victims of Cuddalore especially in the areas of Vallai Kullai and Perumal Kulam.
Rev.Fr.Yesumarian S.J co-ordinated our team of sisters, teachers and Educating Community members comprising of 32 in number. As slated the 17th of Dec was sidelined . The joint venture of the two schools carried Tar par and mats distributed to 300 families along the banks of the lake Verrunaim in Cuddalore which caters to all the reservoirs of Chennai city. We were typically welcomed by the grateful villages. Our team was then directed to the second village Perumal Kulam. We were happy to know that we were the first visitors to extend our help to these people who are collies in agricultural fields. As a part of our mission we provided 300 families with provisions like dhall, rice, oil, plates tumblers each. We also did give Fr.Yesumarian bed sheets, biscuits, toilet items sarees etc… which he could distribute later to the needy.
We do appreciate the sharing of 50 bed sheets and 35 mats from Sacred Heart Home – their mite is a blessing. The members of the Educating Community members surprised us with their willing presence and manual help as well. At the end of our day the truth still remains of how we also witnessed submerged roads, electricity shut down connectivity lost, food and water supply scare, people thrown out of their homes , people in cuddalore have indeed experienced the worst of times. There is satisfaction in our hearts that we will continue to love and feel blessed.
