VELLORE ZONE-AUXILIUM HOME: KATPADI
DATE: 16TH AUGUST 2015

Clouds gathered to pour down rain and heaven opened for the angels to sing the marvels of our dear father and founder Don Bosco. Joy knew no bound as we celebrated the Bicentenary of the Birth of Don Bosco on august 16th 2015 at Zonel level at Katpadi-Auxilium Home. The day was cooled with heavy showers of blessings and graces. Sisters in charge of youth pastoral and more than 200 hundred youth from various institutions gathered with lots of joy, hope and aspiration. Opening the day’s celebration was the solemn entry of our dear Sr. Lucy Rose, the visiting councilor. Sisters and youth along with Don Bosco. Dominic Savio and Laura Viccuna gave warm welcome to our dear Sr. Lucy Rose and she released colourful balloons high in the sky and initiated the Bicentenary celebration. Then began the solemn procession towards the stage Sr. Lucy Rose was escorted by young people joyfully waving out colourful  balloons, flags of varied colours and holding placards of sayings of Don Bosco.

The Celebration began with a very meaningful prayer moment by lighting the Kuthuvizlaku. Sr.Cruz Anthoni Michaela Superior of Auxilium Home and Sr.Amala samala Superior of Auxilium College adorned Sr.Lucy Rose with ponnadai and presented flower bouquet. Sr. Lucy Rose was very happy to meet each one of us presented there. She encouraged us through her thought provoking message on “Inspiring Experiences of Don Bosco’s Charism ie., is Don Bosco knew his ambition to become a priest. He knew what God wants of him. He knew to choose his friends who will help him and whom he can help him to attain the path of sanctity with the help of the heavenly and earthly mothers. And so Sister invited us to walk in the footsteps of Don Bosco. Followed by input session on “Don Bosco with us” was done by Sr.Suganthi. After the break the youth were divided in to groups for discussion “If Don Bosco comes today what will he ask the young to do”. The common assembly was led by Sr, Jai Shanthi.

Afternoon games were conducted by Polur community and prizes were distributed. Each community expressed their love for Don Bosco through songs, dance, skit and comic. After the cultural programme a Solemn Holy Eucharistic Celebration was offered by Rev. Fr.Valan diocesan priest, in his homily he highlighted the greatness of  Don Bosco and focused everyone‘s attention on his simple life ie. is Man of prayer, Man of action and Man of Poverty  which made his life a great model a life lived in the spirit. The day of joy ended with thanking one another especially the provincial youth pastoral coordinator Sr. Gracy Fatima who made this day a lovely day. May the “Man of Dreams” who remains ever young, inspire and guide us during this year to realize the dream of God for the young: May Our Lady Help of Christians, who pointed out to Don Bosco the task and the way, remain with us as our teacher and guide.
