It is a day of rejoicing for the Daughters of Mary help of Christians in Sri Lanka! On 31st May 2020 our two young novices have offered themselves entirely to the Lord in the Institute of the Daughters of Mary help of Christians, founded by St. John Bosco and St. Maria Domenica Mazzarello.
The continuous reflection on the Word of God “I have carved you on the palms of my hands”- Is 49:16. helped them to experience God’s immense love, favour and guidance of the Lord and to be confident of the sustaining presence of God in their religious journey; yes trusting in the living presence of God Sr. Christhurasa Perera Alanrina and Sr. Don Bosco Koduthore Swingle Jerida have come forward to dedicate themselves with the motto: “With Jesus I can”.
We wish and pray that they may be filled with the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit; fixing their gaze on Jesus Christ, who strengthens and guides them, initiate the Salesian Religious life courageously, among the young people with the spirit of St. John Bosco, our founder and St. Maria Dominica Mazzarello.
The celebration was held in Sacred Heart Novitiate, Welihena, Negombo, Sri Lanka on 31st May 2020. Rev. Fr. Miranda Roshan SDB, the Vice Provincial of Vice Province of Sri Lanka together with Priests of the neighbouring Congregations and the Retreat Preacher Rev. Fr. Sagayaraj the Provincial Bursar. Due to curfew many of our sisters and Salesian Fathers were not able to attend. However the presence of the parents of the Neo Professione added the joy of everyone. We wish and pray that Mary help of Christians, the mother and teacher of the Salesian Congregation, may accompany and sustain them at every step they take and be faithful to the commitment they make freely and willingly on this day. That they may be steadfast and commit themselves to do good to everyone who are in need and to glorify the name of God in doing good works, loving each other, in their mission among the young people of Sri Lanka. Indeed we are happy that this is the first set of profession after the erection of the Novitiate in Sri Lanka.
